Boys' basketball: Westchester comes away with 69-60 victory

January 14, 2013 |  9:39 pm

It wasn't the best performance by either team, but Westchester will certainly take its 69-60 Western League victory over Palisades.

Tyler Batiste made a nearly 70-foot shot at the end of the second quarter for Westchester to tie the game at halftime, 31-31.

Westchester (15-5, 3-0) didn't score in the second half until nearly four minutes had elapsed, but the Comets finally got their shooting touch going, making five three-pointers in the second half to pull away. Matthew Grant finished with 15 points to lead the Comets. Aaron Johnson had 21 points for Palisades (12-6, 2-1).

Fairfax defeated Hamilton, 99-47. Chaunce Hill scored 23 points and Reggie Theus Jr. 22 points. University defeated Venice, 63-52. Victor Nwaba scored 19 points and Breamon Richard 15.

In the East Valley League, Poly defeated Chavez, 76-31. Cesar Reyes scored 32 points.
