Boys' basketball: Jack Williams leads Chaminade past Crespi
There's a virtual tie for first place in the Mission League after Jack Williams scored 24 points and had 27 rebounds in Chaminade's 84-80 upset victory over host Encino Crespi on Wednesday night.
Coupled with Loyola's 55-44 win over St. Francis, it's Crespi (18-7, 8-2) and Loyola (17-5, 7-2) that will play on Friday night at Crespi for first place. Jaron Martin had 18 points and 12 assists for Chaminade. Max Heidegger had 23 points and London Perrantes 22 for Crespi. Thomas Welsh led Loyola with 22 points.
Harvard-Westlake defeated Alemany, 80-74. Alex Copeland scored 23 points.
Mater Dei took control of the Trinity League with an 82-71 victory over St. John Bosco. Stanley Johnson scored 31 points and had 12 rebounds. Elijah Brown added 25 points. Daniel Hamilton led St. John Bosco with 27 points and Tyler Dorsey had 23. JSerra defeated Servite, 57-43.
In the Alpha League, Brentwood defeated Viewpoint, 60-47. Leland King contributed 30 points and 17 rebounds. Windward defeated Campbell Hall, 65-62. Charles Dawson had 20 points and Jordan Wilson 15. Aaron Holiday led Campbell Hall with 26 points and Kahlil Simplis 15. Pacific Hills defeated Sierra Canyon, 70-53.
In the Ocean League, Jordan Mathews scored 27 points in Santa Monica's 67-54 win over Culver City. Justin Montgomery had 25 points for Culver City.
In the Foothill League, Hart defeated Saugus, 60-50. Lewis Stallworth had 16 points. West Ranch defeated Canyon, 67-59, with Ako Kaluna scoring 17 points and getting 14 rebounds.
In the Tri-Valley League, Ron Lee Jr. and JD Slajchert each scored 22 points in Oak Park's 78-61 win over Bishop Diego. Oaks Christian defeated St. Bonaventure, 73-50.
Chino Hills defeated Ayala, 75-18. Lonzo Ball scored 17 points.
Lawndale is 7-0 in the Pioneer League after a 61-42 win over Torrance. Will Newman scored 18 points.
