Boys' basketball: Cody Rodino keys Sylmar victory

In the battle for first place in the Valley Mission League, Cody Rodino came through with 23 points to help Sylmar defeated Granada Hills Kennedy, 58-49.

In the West Valley League, El Camino Real defeated Birmingham, 77-39. Birmingham played without Coach Nick Hauselman, who was fired. Julian Richardson led the Conquistadores (15-2, 2-0) with 18 points. Michael Thomas returned from an injury to score 12 points.

Taft defeated Cleveland, 83-64. Darius Henderson scored 22 points and Usama Zaid had 21 points.

In the East Valley League, Poly defeated North Hollywood, 63-49. Cesar Reyes scored 24 points. Grant defeated Arleta, 74-57. Tullio Parry scored 28 points.

In the Western League, Palisades defeated Hamilton, 81-51. Ammar Rehman scored 31 points. Westchester defeated Venice, 81-37. Palisades hosts Westchester on Monday.

In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated West Adams, 88-26. Desmond Maxwell had 26 points.
