Baseball: Bonita pitching staff gets boost from transfers

Justin Garza has graduated and is now at Cal State Fullerton, but don't feel sorry for La Verne Bonita, whose pitching staff will receive a boost from transfer students Jon Reid from Charter Oak and Chad Hockin from Damien.

Reid is a left-hander committed to Pepperdine. Hockin is a right-hander committed to Cal State Fullerton. His brother, Grant, remained at Damien. Both still need to be cleared by CIF.

Add Parker Merritt, a returnee who was 8-1 last season, and Bonita will have a strong three-man rotation when the season begins in the spring.
