Girls' basketball: Mater Dei transfers have impact

There's no rebuilding year for the Mater Dei girls' basketball team, and you can say transfer students have a big part in keeping the Monarchs' program a title contender.

Mater Dei is off to a 6-0 start with the help of three transfer students in the starting lineup.

Peyton Langston, a junior who enrolled at the start of the school year from Rolling Hills Prep, is 6 feet and a college prospect. She is the daughter of former Verbum Dei boys' coach DeAnthony Langston.

Then you have Karlie and Katie Lou Samuelson, sisters who transferred from Huntington Beach Edison. Karlie, a senior, signed with Stanford. Katie Lou is a sophomore.
