For the second consecutive week, Gardena Serra did not have any turnovers, which once again resulted in victory for the Cavaliers and a spot in Saturday’s 4 p.m. CIF state championship Division II bowl game against Oakdale at the Home Depot Center.

Even more stunning, in 48 minutes of football during their 27-10 victory on Saturday night against Edison, the Cavaliers committed just one penalty.

Add to that, Serra got back its standout running back Anterio Bateman, who missed eight games with a broken ankle. He caught a 12-yard pass on the first offensive play for Serra.

‘Being part of that game last night was something special,’ Coach Scott Altenberg said.

And for college recruiting people, Serra’s standout junior defensive back Adoree’ Jackson wore UCLA gloves. In an earlier game, he wore USC gloves. Maybe Notre Dame is next.
