Football: Corona del Mar leads 23-3 at halftime

December 1, 2012 |  3:12 pm

_C011851Everything went Corona del Mar's way in the first half of the CIF Southern Section Southern Division final at Angel Stadium.

The Sea Kings took three points off the board after Garden Grove was penalized for roughing kicker Griffith Amies during a field goal try, giving Corona del Mar a first-and-goal. On fourth down from the 6, Troy Reese outjumped two defenders in the corner of the end zone that increased the Sea Kings' lead to 23-3 with three seconds left in the second quarter.

Corona del Mar outscored its first three playoff opponents 86-0 and is well on its way to another rout.

Garden Grove has 77 yards on offense and will need to create turnovers to get back in the game against the defending champions, who have 144 yards in 31 plays.
