It’s all over at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, where Newport Beach Corona del Mar has defeated Garden Grove 35-10 to win the CIF Southern Section Southern Division championship.

It was the second consecutive Southern Division title for Corona del Mar, which edged Irvine Beckman 14-13 in last year’s final at Orange Coast College.

Cayman Carter completed 16 of 27 passes for 203 yards and one touchdown and ran for two more scores and kicker Griffith Amies tied the state record with his 22nd field goal in the fourth quarter for the top-seeded Sea Kings (12-2), who gave up a total of 10 points in four playoff games.

The Sea Kings’ defense forced two safeties and set the tone on the first play from scrimmage when linebacker Alexander Moore returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. Garden Grove was held to 82 yards rushing.

Gabe Carillo kicked a 24-yard field goal in the second quarter and Josh Huff caught a nine-yard touchdown pass from Angel Martinez in the fourth quarter for the third-seeded Argonauts (11-3).

Corona del Mar will be in consideration for the CIF South Division III regional berth along with Monrovia, tonight’s North Torrance-Nordhoff winner, San Diego Madison and Central Section champion Wasco.
