Football: 48,379 see high school championship game in Texas

They love high school football in Texas, which helps explain why 48,379 showed up on Saturday at Cowboys Stadium for the Class 5A Division I championship.

Allen High won, 35-21, over Houston Lamar.

Allen is the school that gained attention for its new $59 million stadium that seats 18,000.

I guess California has a long ways to go, because the attendance for its three CIF state championship bowl games on Dec. 15 at Home Depot Center was 11,631.
