Boys' basketball: Jackson-Cartwright sparks Loyola
Trey Mason made a pair of free throws with five seconds left in overtime to seal the victory. Mason finished with 17 points. Parker Jackson-Cartwright led the undefeated Cubs with 10 assists and 27 points, including a three-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime.
Jordan Mathews had 31 points for the Vikings (5-2), who led by 10 points in the fourth quarter before losing to Loyola in the finals of the South Bay Classic last week in Torrance.
Loyola lost to Mater Dei in the semifinals of the Southern Section Division 1AA playoffs last season. The Cubs (7-0) will try to keep their perfect record alive when they meet West Ranch (4-0) in the finals Saturday night.
