Suffering its first loss of the season to neighborhood rival Chaminade in the quarterfinals of the Santa Monica tournament on Wednesday didn’t sit well with El Camino Real and the Conquistadores took their frustrations out on defending CIF Southern Section Division III champion Alemany, routing the Warriors 90-46 in a fifth-place semifinal Friday afternoon.

Hawaii-bound Michael Thomas led the way with 20 points and Evan Wardlow and Julian Richardson each added 14 for the Conquistadores (6-1), who led by 13 points at halftime. KJ Moffett scored 14 points and Shacquille Dawkins added nine for Alemany (1-2).

‘We didn’t play well the other night, it was a tough game, but I thought we responded well today,’ El Camino Real Coach David Rebibo, a friend and roommate of Chaminade Coach Todd Wolfson, said. ‘Alemany’s a very good team but we were able to jump on them early.’
