Boys’ basketball: Isaiah Duffy inspires Rancho Verde

Isaiah Duffy scored all 13 of his points in the second half as Rancho Verde overcame a sluggish start and defeated Palisades, 58-46, in a fifth-place semifinal of the Oaks Christian tournament.

The Dolphins opened up an early 15-3 lead but Rancho Verde pulled to within 25-21 by halftime. The Mustangs (11-3) outscored Palisades 18-4 in the third quarter to take a 10-point lead, ending the run on an alley-oop basket by Andrew Bournes, who finished with 12 points.

Ryan Ford scored 12 points, Ammar Rehman had 11 and Colton Chambers added eight for Palisades (8-5), which will play San Diego Lincoln for seventh-place at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Meeting Rancho Verde in the fifth-place game Saturday night will be Calabasas, a 64-54 victor against Lincoln. Jeremy Lieberman scored 29 points, including six three-pointers, and Max Hoetzel added 12 for the Coyotes (12-2), who built a 41-22 halftime lead.
