Boys' basketball: Brentwood prevails in overtime
Tra Holder scored 31 points and sank four crucial free throws in the final 13.8 seconds of overtime to clinch Brentwood's 86-83 victory over Crenshaw at the Santa Monica tournament.
Leland King added 26 points for the Eagles (6-1), who will play El Camino Real for fifth place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Andre Edwards scored 44 points for Crenshaw.
Crenshaw trailed by 11 points early in the fourth quarter, but Birdel Hodge tied it 75-75 on a three-pointer with 12 seconds left to force overtime.
Brentwood opened the tournament with a blowout win against Providence, then lost 76-65 to Loyola.
King entered the game averaging 25.5 points and 22 rebounds per game and Holder was averaging 20 points and seven steals.
Crenshaw (3-4) opened the tournament with a 56-49 victory over City Section rival Palisades, then lost by eight points in the quarterfinals to Santa Monica.
In other Santa Monica tournament games Friday, Oaks Christian routed Providence 75-47 and Culver City defeated Los Angeles Fremont 59-48.
