Boys’ basketball: Brandon Randolph leads Inglewood to upset of the week

Brandon Randolph, who signed with Xavier, helped lead Inglewood to the upset of the week, a 63-62 victory over Bellflower St. John Bosco.

He scored 24 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter. Randolph, a senior guard who played last season for Playa del Rey St. Bernard, is averaging 22 points. He started the season with games of 29, 25 and 27 points.

‘He’s carrying the load offensively,’ Coach Patrick Roy said. ‘He’s able to attack the rim. Against St. John Bosco, he was challenging their big guys. He’s going around them, he’s going through them.’

Inglewood is 5-2 with both losses to Corona Centennial.

Inglewood is in Southern Section Division 1AA with Long Beach Poly, Loyola and Mater Dei, among others.
