Boys’ basketball: Ako Kaluna nets 23 for West Ranch

Northern Arizona-bound forward Ako Kaluna scored 23 points, Kevin Harris had 13 and Cody Sanders added 12 on four three-pointers to propel West Ranch into the consolation final of the Oaks Christian tournament with a 74-55 victory over Sacramento.

The Wildcats, ranked 10th in the Southland by The Times, outscored the Dragons 22-11 in the second quarter to take a 34-27 halftime lead and avenged a two-point loss in the semifinals of the Sacramento tournament last week.

Guard Jackson Miller scored 10 points, Tyler Harris had nine and Francis Owusu added eight for Oaks Christian in its 60-39 defeat to Sacramento Pleasant Grove. The Lions (8-6) will play Sacramento for 11th place at 2 p.m. Saturday.
