L.A. University came into Thursday’s quarterfinals of the San Fernando Valley Invitational with an impressive 10-1 record, but Mission Hills Alemany left little doubt of its superiority with a 77-53 victory.

K.J. Moffett scored 22 points, repeatedly driving to the basket. Kevin Summers added 12 points and Brandon Boyd 10. Darnell Bettis scored 15 points for University. Alemany played much of the game without talented sophomore Bennie Boatwright, who had to go to the sideline in the first quarter after a collision left him dizzy.
