Chase Strumpf is a freshman shortstop at San Juan Capistrano JSerra who hasn’t even played in a single high school game. But Coach Brett Kay said on Thursday that Strumpf has committed to UCLA after receiving a scholarship offer.

‘He’s pretty special,’ Kay said.

Strumpf was considered one of the top eighth-graders in Southern California last season.
