Football: Passing against Mission Viejo defense is risky

Maybe quarterbacks should stop trying to pass the ball against Mission Viejo's defense.

In the last two weeks, the Diablos have made 10 interceptions against El Toro and Westlake.

Leading the way has been junior safety Hunter Remington, who returned two interceptions for touchdowns in Mission Viejo's 42-10 victory over Westlake. He had three interceptions the previous week against El Toro. Mission Viejo made four interceptions against the Warriors.

The Diablos (11-0), however, will finally get tested on the ground on Friday in a quarterfinal game against Long Beach Poly.

The Jackrabbits have decided to go back to what they used to do so well _ pound the ball with their powerful running backs.

But if they decide to pass, Mission Viejo has shown it sure knows how to make interceptions.
