Edward Mancilla’s 47-yard field goal attempt hit the left upright and bounced back with three seconds left in the first half and Bishop Amat was unable to narrow its deficit against host Long Beach Poly at Veterans Stadium.

Poly leads 27-17 at halftime of a wild Pac-5 Division playoff opener.

It’s been the Gerard Wicks show so far as Poly’s star running back has 135 yards and two touchdowns in 12 carries. Backfield mate Manusamoa Luuga has added 122 yards in eight carries for the Jackrabbits.

Koa Haynes has completed 9 of 11 passes for 151 yards for Bishop Amat, which took a 7-0 lead on Anthony Camargo’s 23-yard interception return on the first play from scrimmage.
