The new CIF transfer rules requiring players to sit out approximately 30 days if they transfer without moving left 6-foot-5, 255-pound senior defensive end Raymond Sierra of Los Angeles Garfield stuck on the sideline for the first five games until he became eligible on Oct. 1.

But he has made up for lost time and is a big reason Garfield (5-5) has won five consecutive games and is seeded No 8 in the City Section Division I playoffs. The Bulldogs open against No. 9 Woodland Hills Taft on Friday.

‘He’s made a huge impact,’ Coach Lorenzo Hernandez said.

Sierra played last season at Hacienda Heights Wilson.

If Garfield wins, it would probably play No. 1-seeded Narbonne in the quarterfinals.
