Football: Alemany returns to Santa Ana Stadium

November 15, 2012 | 10:12 am

Mission Hills Alemany gets a second chance.

In 1982, the year of the Miracle on Rinaldi Street, Alemany played Anaheim Servite in a Southern Section semifinal playoff game at Santa Ana Stadium, losing, 19-17.

Now the Warriors return to Santa Ana Stadium on Friday night to face Santa Ana Mater Dei in a Pac-5 Division quarterfinal game.

"Our guys won't be intimidated," Coach Dean Herrington said.

Alemany will need to come up with a plan to contain Mater Dei receiver Thomas Duarte.

"He's a load," Herrington said. "He definitely causes matchup problems. Then you have a 6-5 guy on the other side. Lucky we have some guys who can jump."

Game time is 7:30 p.m. and it will be televised by Fox Sports West.
