Cross country: Sarah Baxter wins Southern Section Division 1 race

Junior Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley won her third consecutive Southern Section individual cross country championship on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College, winning the girls’ Division 1 race in 15:53. Great Oak won the team title. Baxter will race at next week’s state championships in Fresno.

In Division 2 girls, Saugus won the team title and Newport Harbor’s Paige Tennison won the individual title.

In Division 3 girls, Bonita won the team title and Beverly Hills’ Sydney Segal took the team title. JSerra won Division 4 girls, and Danielle Shanahan of Bishop Montgomery won the individual title. Thacher won Division 5 girls.

In Division 1 boys, Juan Gonzales of El Toro finished first in 14:00. Arcadia won the team title.

In Division 2 boys, Westlake won the team title and Bryan Fernandez of Dos Pueblos took the individual title.

St. John Bosco’s Myles Smith won the Division 3 boys title in 14:13. Palos Verdes won the team title.

In Division 4 boys, Daniel De La Torre of La Salle won in 14:23. L.A. Salesian took the team title.

In Division 5 boys, St. Margaret’s took the team title and Isaiah Thompson of Sherman Indian won the team title.
