Boys’ basketball: Tournaments begin on Monday

The boys’ basketball season moves into high gear on Monday with a variety of tournament across Southern California.

At Redondo High, top-ranked Long Beach Poly opens against Manual Arts at 6:30 p.m. in the Pacific Shores tournament. Gardena Serra plays Tesoro at 8 pm. Westchester opens against Rancho Christian on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

In the Torrance tournament on Monday, the schedule is Harvard-Westlake vs. Douglass, 3:30 p.m.; Fairfax vs. Oaks Christian, 5 p.m.; Loyola vs. Palos Verdes, 6:30 p.m. and Santa Monica vs. Torrance, 8 p.m. There could be a Pacific Hills-Loyola matchup in the quarterfinals.

In the Pasadena tournament on Monday, it’s Long Beach Jordan vs. La Verne Lutheran, 3:30 p.m.; Chino Hills vs. Cleveland, 5 p.m.; Price vs. Ventura, 6:30 p.m. and Pasadena vs. Birmingham, 8 p.m. On Tuesday, it’s Cantwell Sacred-Heart vs. Washington, 3:30 p.m.; Sylmar vs. Leuzinger, 5 p.m.; El Camino Real vs. Granite Hills, 6:30 p.m. and Renaissance vs. Muir, 8 p.m.
