Boys’ basketball: Southern Section playoff divisions are released

The Southern Section has released this season’s playoff divisions for basketball.

Alemany, which won the state Division III championship, was moved to 1AA. So was Pasadena. It’s going to be difficult to win, with Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly, Loyola and Etiwanda.

‘It’s a big move,’ Alemany Coach Tray Meeks said. ‘We’re looking forward to playing the best teams in Southern California.’

St. John Bosco remains in 3A.

Division 4AA remains full of elite teams.
