November 14, 2012 |  1:50 pm

UC Irvine is the winner in the recruiting competition for 7-foot-5 center Mamadou Ndiaye, a senior at Huntington Beach Brethren Christian who signed with Irvine on Wednesday.

Ndiaye averaged 24 points, 13.8 rebounds and 5.1 blocked shots as a junior.

"I chose UC Irvine because I felt very comfortable at the University and with the coaching staff," Ndiaye said in a statement. "It is an excellent school that will help me develop as a student and basketball player."
