UCLA Coach John Savage loves recruiting football players to his baseball team, and he’s adding two quarterbacks on signing day _ Dominic Miroglio, a catcher from Oakland Bishop O’Dowd, and outfielder Brett Stephens from Campolindo.

‘We like them because they’re competitive,’ Savage said of multiple-sport athletes.

Miroglio and Stephens aren’t the first former quarterbacks on the baseball roster. Former pitcher Dan Klein showed up from Anaheim Servite and catcher Richard Brehaut (Los Osos) was on the team last season.

Another ex-football player on the Bruins’ roster is Kevin Williams (Crespi).

UCLA was scheduled to sign 10 players on Wednesday, including outfielder Luke Persico (Great Oak) and pitcher Scott Burke (Glendora).
