Rowing: Local girls' team wins Head of Charles Regatta

It's not every weekend that a group of teenagers from Los Angeles travels to Boston and beats out the best in the nation in a rowing competition.

That's what happened for a group of girls from the Marina Aquatic Center in the women's youth 4 competition at the Head of Charles Regatta.

Coxswain Ardsley Sanders (Santa Monica) and rowers Martine Johannessen (Harvard-Westlake), Maxx Tanklage (Marymount), Katherine Armstrong (Palisades) and Genevieve Shaw (Marlborough) took home first place, recording the best time in a competition of 85 crews.
