Football: Field goal gives Tesoro 17-14 halftime lead

Tesoro kicker Zach Schottenfeld made a 38-yard field goal on the final play of the first half to give the Titans a 17-14 lead over host El Toro in tonight's South Coast League showdown at Trabuco Hills.

El Toro called back-to-back timeouts with one second left in an attempt to ice Schottenfeld, but the ploy didn't work.

There's been no stopping Tesoro running back Nate Tago so far. He has 240 yards and two TDs.

Conner Manning has completed seven of 14 passes for 70 yards and one TD and Jacob Furnari has 62 yards and one TD in 12 carries for El Toro, which will get the ball first in the second half.

In tonight's other South Coast League game, Mission Viejo has opened a 42-0 lead on San Clemente.
