Football: State record for most combined points is established

Porterville and Tulare teamed up to set a state record on Thursday night for most combined points in a football game, with Porterville winning, 86-79, in a Central Section game. And it didn’t even go into overtime. Tulare led at halftime, 56-50.

According to the Visalia Times-Delta, at one point in the game, there were touchdowns scored on seven consecutive possessions. Porterville had 715 total yards and Tulare 616. Tulare quarterback Oscar Reyes passed for 476 yards and seven touchdowns.

Porterville quarterback Dennis Chester passed for 476 yards and five touchdowns.
