Its record says 5-4, but in truth, Bellflower St. John Bosco is 9-0 on the field and on the verge of a 10-0 regular season and its first Trinity League championship if the Braves can get past Santa Margarita on Friday night at home.

Even more impressive is that the Braves are winning with a sophomore quarterback, Josh Rosen. What other team has pulled off that feat? Sophomores rarely step in at such an important position and deal with the ups and downs as well as Rosen has done, especially after the Braves had to forfeit four wins because of an ineligible player.

Of course, there are no guarantees in the Trinity League. Santa Margarita has lost only once since losing injured quarterback Johnny Stanton for the rest of the season, and the Eagles remain a dangerous opponent.

But St. John Bosco has shown it can compete with the best, and if the Braves get past Santa Margarita, they certainly deserve to be among the favorites to win what remains to be a wide-open Pac-5 Division.
