Ryan Wolpin dove over the goal line from a yard out late in the second quarter and Santa Margarita leads Anaheim Servite 7-0 at halftime of tonight’s Trinity League opener at Saddleback College.

Santa Margarita’s Gian Carlo Spinosi blocked a 25-yard field goal try on the last play of the first half to keep the Friars off the scoreboard.

The Eagles are ahead despite committing three turnovers--the first a muffed punt and the other two interceptions by junior quarterback Josh Canty, who has connected on 5 of 8 passes for 30 yards. Wolpin has 33 yards in eight carries.

Servite controlled the ball for 15 minutes and 33 seconds but was stopped on fourth down two times. Quarterback Travis Waller is 9 of 11 for 51 yards for the Friars.
