Football: Scoreless first quarter in East L.A. Classic

October 26, 2012 |  7:59 pm

_A261154Each team has had possession and neither has scored after one quarter of play in the 78th East L.A. Classic.

Garfield received the short opening kickoff and marched to the Rough Riders' 9-yard line, but Higinio Gonzalez missed on a field goal attempt at the eight-minute mark.

Roosevelt then took over at its 20-yard line and picked up one first down before having to punt. Garfield started its second drive at its 27-yard line but had to punt from around midfield.

Roosevelt will have the ball at its own 37-yard line when the second quarter begins.
