Football: It's the calm before the stampede at Chaminade

October 5, 2012 |  5:05 pm

It's homecoming at West Hills Chaminade, and the school clubs have put together booths filled with attractive goodies, such as root beer floats, funnel cakes, cookies and candy galore.

Word is that lots of Chaminade fans will be hanging out behind the stadium munching on the goodies, overshadowing the start of the 7:30 p.m. Mission League showdown between the host Eagles and Gardena Serra.

I'm showing great self restraint so far, passing on some ice-cold lemonade. It's the calm before the stampede of students, parents and alumni who I think haven't eaten all day in anticipation.
