Two programs that have been revived by energetic coaches meet on Friday to decide the Valley Mission League championship. It will be San Fernando (7-0, 3-0) taking on Van Nuys (7-1, 4-0) at Van Nuys.

Van Nuys, under Coach Sean Pollard, began its improvement last season, and the Wolves have won seven consecutive games after a season opening loss to Lincoln. Running back Kyle Jean, who rushed for 199 yards and four touchdowns last week against Panorama, has gained 1,422 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.

San Fernando, under first-year Coach Robert Garcia, has been a big surprise. ‘You can tell they play as a unit,’ Pollard said.

Running back Daemon Thompson has been giving the TIgers a boost with his rushing, and quarterback Cristian Solano keeps contributing with his passing.
