If Estancia’s Ben Beck had his wish, he’d play against rival Costa Mesa every week, because he keeps playing a starring role in beating the Mustangs.

In basketball, he made a desperation three-pointer at the buzzer to beat Costa Mesa.

In baseball, he scored the winning run in the seventh inning to beat Costa Mesa.

On Friday night in football, Beck returned a kickoff 99 yards for Estancia’s only touchdown of the second half in a 15-13 victory over Costa Mesa.

‘It’s a fun rivalry,’ he said. ‘I know most of the guys there. I don’t know why every Costa Mesa game it happens.’

The Costa Mesa fans are getting frustrated with Beck. He took the SAT on Saturday and happened to sit next to a Costa Mesa student.

‘She was mad,’ he said.

The 6-foot Beck plays receiver in football, guard in basketball and he’s an outfielder in baseball, his best sport. He hit .364 last season as a junior. And he’ll have more opportunities to beat Costa Mesa come basketball and baseball season.
