Football: El Toro holds on to beat Tesoro, 41-31

Lake Forest El Toro has beaten Rancho Santa Margarita Tesoro, 41-31, to stay undefeated in a key South Coast League game at Trabuco Hills. There were five lead changes.

Utah-bound senior quarterback Conner Manning completed 14 of 27 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns and caught the game-winning touchdown pass with less than five minutes remaining. Jacob Furnari had 151 yards and one touchdown in 26 carries for the Chargers (8-0).

Nate Tago rushed for 321 yards and four touchdowns in 39 carries for Tesoro, which dropped to 6-1. Tago scored on runs of 2, 44, 3 and 4 yards. Titans quarterback Matt Adam threw three interceptions.

El Toro and Mission Viejo are tied for first atop the league. Mission Viejo routed San Clemente 45-7 and travels to Tesoro next week. El Toro will play Trabuco Hills.
