Senior tight end Conor Hayward of Encino Crespi underwent surgery early Saturday for a ruptured spleen after being injured on Friday night during the Celts’ game against Los Angeles Loyola, Athletic Director Matt Luderer said.

Luderer said Hayward is stable at a Northridge hospital and has been moved out of the intensive care unit.

That’s great news considering he had internal bleeding.

Hayward suffered a shoulder injury earlier and had just returned to playing for the unbeaten Celts (7-0).
