Arleta (6-0, 2-0) has been rolling along with an unbeaten record, and now the Mustangs face one of their toughest tests in East Valley League play on Friday night against host North Hollywood (4-2, 2-0).

Coach Dan Kelley said the offensive line is ‘where we’re winning games.’

Tackle David Diaz (6-foot-5, 270 pounds) and center Adam Chavez have been creating opportunities for a collection of running backs. Arleta has been working on improving its passing game, and 5-9 quarterback Anthony Silva has 10 touchdown passes.

Another key contributor has been receiver-defensive back Jose Jimenez.

Kelley said he didn’t know how his team would perform this season trying to replace De’Jon Coleman, who scored 47 touchdowns in 2011.

So far, so good for the Mustangs, who compete in City Section Division I and remain a heavy favorite to win the East Valley League.
