Major-league baseball has its trading deadline and high school baseball has its transfer deadline, and it appears the three teams to beat in the City Section have all strengthened themselves with transfer students.

San Fernando has added senior first bseman Roberto Ramos from Lake Balboa Birmingham. He’s 6 feet 4, 230 pounds and can hit with power.

Woodland Hills El Camino Real has added 6-2 junior infielder Erik Whittlesey from Granada Hills. Chatsworth has added 6-2 junior outfielder Marquis Jackson from Mission Hills Alemany.

All three schools should battle it out for a berth in the City Section Division I championship game on June 1 at Dodger Stadium.

Ramos and Whittlesey are expected to be eligible to play on April 1.

There could be more transfers coming in January, when the spring semester begins. And there’s lots in the Southern Section, too.
