Ryan ‘Dax’ McGregor, a senior quarterback at Wildomar Cornerstone Christian, suffered a head injury Friday during a game at Avalon and has been listed in critical condition at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center.

According to an email sent by George Escalante, the athletic administrator at Calvary Murrieta Christian School, McGregor had some improvement with his breathing and oxygen levels on Monday but remains on a ventilator and is heavily sedated to reduce stress to his brain.

McGregor underwent brain surgery on Saturday and also had a collapsed lung.

‘He’s in critical condition but stable,’ Principal Sharon Privett said Monday. ‘He was doing his dream when he got injured.’

A fund has been set up to help the family.
