There was much debate last school year about which league should be moved out of the Pac-5 Division to be replaced by the Marmonte?

In hindsight, the Moore League should have been removed instead of the Sunset League.

Of course, removing the Moore League means you’d have to find a new division for Long Beach Poly, an 18-time Southern Section champion. The Sunset was sent to the Southwest Division, which includes lots of Orange County teams. There is no ideal division for the Moore League other than the Pac-5.

In the last two weeks, City Section power Narbonne has beaten Poly, 56-0, and Lakewood, 61-6. Three of the seven Moore League teams still haven’t won a game this season.

Huntington Beach Edison of the Sunset League defeated Servite, 6-0, and gets a shot at Mater Dei this coming week.

The Moore League is guaranteed three Pac-5 Division playoff berths. The other playoff teams in the Pac-5 will be hoping to play one of them.
