Football: Lompoc wins its 22nd game in a row

Lompoc improved to 2-0 and won its 22nd consecutive game with a 21-14 victory over Bakersfield Frontier. Lompoc opened a 21-0 lead.

Frontier Coach Rich Cornford was team captain of the 1986 Lompoc team.

Lavon Coleman scored on a 72-yard touchdown run in the first half and added a 41-yard TD run in the second half while rushing for 216 yards in 24 carries. He has 386 yards in two games and is averaging 9.4 yards. Ralph Arellano made 12 tackles and had two sacks and an interception.

Palmdale came away with a 35-21 win over Valencia. Demario Richard rushed for 182 yards, including an 86-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter.

Jake Dashnaw passed for 157 yards and three touchdowns.
