Football: La Salle goes from 1-9 last season to 5-0 start

One of the big turnaround stories for 2012 is happening at Pasadena La Salle, which is 5-0 under first-year Coach Russell Gordon after going 1-9 last season and 0-10 in 2010.

And La Salle figures to be even stronger after Oct. 1, when at least three transfer students become eligible.

The Lancers have been relying on running backs Isreal Lacy, Amir Evans and Bryce Harvey. Senior tight end Marcus Tappen (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) also is a standout, along with lineman Shane Tierney.

“We feel we came in and gave them a system and had a plan,” said Gordon, who left North Hollywood Campbell Hall to take over La Salle.
