Football: Johnny Stanton, Ryan Wolpin lead Santa Margarita, 35-27

Ryan Wolpin rushed for 204 yards in 13 carries and scored two touchdowns and Johnny Stanton passed for 132 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 100 yards and one touchdown to help No. 1-ranked Santa Margarita hold off No. 3 St. Bonaventure, 35-27.

Wolpin’s 50-yard TD run with 1:30 left gave the Eagles an eight-point lead. Santa Margarita’s defense stopped Zachary Green of St. Bonaventure on a two-point conversion attempt with 2:50 left.

Ricky Town lost the ball on a fumble in the final minute to end St. Bonaventure’s upset bid.

Green rushed for 103 yards in 18 carries and scored three touchdowns. Town completed his first 12 passes and finished 19 of 24 for 177 yards and one touchdown for St. Bonaventure.
