For three quarters, Carson was in dominant form in its game against host Fresno Edison. The Colts held a 21-6 lead.

Then Edison rallied behind quarterback Khari McGee, who threw three fourth-quarter touchdown passes, the last a 61-yarder to Preston Scott with 20 seconds left. Edison pulled out a 26-21 victory.

It was the second consecutive game Carson had come close to winning against a tough opponent. Last week, the Colts lost to Long Beach Poly.

It doesn’t get any easier this coming week with a game against Santa Ana Mater Dei.

But first-year Coach Jimmy Nolan, who missed last week’s game for missing a City coaches’ meeting, sees plenty of potential for a Carson team that will certainly be heard from when it starts playing against City Section opponents.
