It’s very difficult to beat a team with a good defensive line, and after two games, Bellflower St. John Bosco is showing it has a defensive line that opponents are going to have to deal with.

Aaron Laut, a senior lineman, had four sacks in St. John Bosco’s 54-7 win over Lakewood. He’s the nephew of former Olympic shot putter Dave Laut.

Laut is one of only three senior defensive starters. The others are standout safety Christian Wehrly, who was a linebacker last season, and linebacker Elijah Lopez.

Coach Jason Negro played a bunch of sophomores last season, and after a year of experience, they’re ready to go. The defense also was strengthened by the addition of Lakewood transfers Jaleel Wadood and Naijiel Hale.

St. John Bosco figures to be 4-0 going into a showdown game in two weeks against Los Angeles Loyola.
