There’s a new advisory committee created at the request of Southern Section Commissioner Rob Wigod. It’s the private school leadership advistory committee, and it includes many of the most influential private school presidents and principals in Southern California.

Patrick Murphy from Santa Ana Mater Dei, Paul Carey from Santa Margarita, Jeff Woodcock from Oaks Christian, Gregory Goethals from Loyola, Marc Groff from St. Bonaventure and Audrius Barzadukas from Harvard-Westlake are among the committee members. That’s a powerful collection of individuals.

‘I believe that there is a very important group of private school administrators that we have not had enough communication with in the past, nor had an opportunity to engage in a productive dialogue with,’ Wigod said in a welcoming letter. ‘I would like to change that situation immediately.’

The committee comes as the Southern Section continues to face a lawsuit from the Diocese of Orange and Mater Dei.

It’s another attempt by Wigod to move on from the days of former Commissioner Jim Staunton.
