London Perrantes of Encino Crespi, perhaps the No. 1 senior point guard in Southern California, announced Monday he has committed to Virigina.

His decision came after he took a recruiting visit to the campus this past weekend. Virginia Coach Tony Bennett, a former Washington State coach, is known for developing guards.

Perrantes is considered an athletic, tough guard who performs well under pressure.

In a statement released by Crespi, Perrantes said, ‘The campus was beautiful, and I know the education I receive will be top notch. UVa is always ranked as one of the top public institutions in the country. Coach Bennett played my position at the highest level.

‘Being able to learn from him was a big draw at UVa. On my visit, I felt a great connection with Coach. He was genuine and honest about me as a player and what I need to do to get better.’

Correction: An earlier version of this blog had the wrong first name for the Virginia coach. It is Tony Bennett.
