Rio Hondo Prep, L.A. Windward find 11-man football just fine

August 27, 2012 |  3:29 pm

Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep and L.A. Windward used to be eight-man football powers. Now both schools are in 11-man football and showing signs of potential.

Rio Hondo won the Southern Section Northeast Division title last season and took another step up on Friday by knocking off Arcadia from the Pacific League, 29-7.

L.A. Windward, in its first full season of 11-man football, defeated Long Beach St. Anthony, 33-15. Basketball players Roy Hemsley, Drew Bryant and Charles Dawson have given the football team a boost.
