It’s stunning in its size. That’s all I have to say about the new $5 million, 50-meter pool at Studio City Harvard-Westlake. The dedication ceremony was scheduled for Monday afternoon. Water polo players started using it last week and were offering rave reviews.

‘It’s so new you feel you’re going 10 times faster,’ senior Andrew Miller said.

Coach Brian Flacks said, ‘This has to be one of the three nicest pools in the country.’

It’s a Myrtha stainless steel pool, and the frame was shipped from Italy. The aquatics programs will surely benefit.

Flacks, 24, a former UCLA water polo player, has some of the best young players in Southern California, including 6-foot-4, 200-pound incoming freshman Ben Hallock, who might be the best 14-year-old in the nation. Three freshmen and three sophomores play for USA development teams.

The team had been driving to San Fernando for more than a year to practice. It was clearly worth the wait.
